Behind the Scenes: Creating Our Air Jordan Custom Candle
Share
Our First Blog Post is Live! 🎉
Creating content is just as fun for us as making art, so we’re excited to share our first blog post!
This one’s all about the process behind our Air Jordan candle, which we recently listed. Like any creative idea, it all started with a simple sketch. This design was inspired by the sculpture style of Daniel Arsham—you might have seen some of his work where it looks like fabric is draped over sculptures or even melting into walls.
But this time, that fabric is covering an Air Jordan sneaker! We sketched the concept on an iPad and decided to turn it into a custom candle.

From Sketch to 3D Design
Once the 2D sketch was done, it was time for the real challenge—3D modeling. We use ZBrush for all our designs, and compared to the sketch, this step takes much more time. That’s because our candle needs to look exactly like the final 3D design. The more time we put into this stage, the better and more detailed the candle turns out.
Here’s a render of the final 3D model!

3D Printing & Mold Making
Next, we moved on to the prototype stage with resin 3D printing. We printed the model at 14 cm tall using a Creality resin printer.
After printing, the resin pieces need to be washed with alcohol to remove any extra resin. They also need to be cured with UV light, which is super important—if the resin isn’t cured properly, it can cause issues when making the silicone mold.

Once the piece was fully cured, it was time for mold making. We created a one-piece silicone mold by placing the print on a flat surface, building a mold box around it, and pouring silicone over it. The final mold came out super clean and perfectly captured every detail of our design.

Final Thoughts
As you can see, making a personalized candle is a multi-step process, and each stage is just as important as the next. We’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes blog posts about our creations, so stay tuned!
