Creating a Custom Tintin Candle – Unique Handmade Decor
Share
I grew up with Tintin comics. My older brother had the entire collection, and I read each one over and over again. Funny how a comic can feel brand new every time you revisit it. Some stories just stick with you forever!
Hergé & the World of Tintin
Georges Prosper Remi, better known as Hergé, was the genius behind one of the most legendary comic characters of all time—Tintin. The first Adventures of Tintin story was published in 1929, and it quickly became a worldwide sensation. This sharp-witted journalist, along with his loyal dog Snowy and friends like Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus, took readers on countless adventures.
Hergé’s signature "ligne claire" (clear line) art style gave Tintin its timeless and unique look, making it as fresh today as it was decades ago.

Creating My First Custom Tintin Candle
Recently, I decided to start a collection of sculptural candles inspired by Tintin. (Since Tintin just entered the public domain, it’s the perfect time to bring this idea to life!)
For the first design, I created a bust of classic Tintin, featuring his iconic blue sweater and collared shirt.
- I started with a hand sketch to get the form right.
- Then, I sculpted the 3D model in ZBrush for iPad.
- Once the design was finalized, I 3D printed a 14 cm model using my Creality Halot Sky printer.
- After printing, I let the model cure to get it ready for the next steps.

I’ll be adding the next steps soon! (Like mold-making, casting, and final finishing touches.)
